Border Mania!

Our October workshop was today and featured five cards where we tried out different border techniques, including border punches, edgelits dies, lace tape, and pretty paper.  Below is a picture of the cards we made.  I’m not sure if you can see the sparkle and shimmer in some of them — the peacock is embossed silver (stunning!) and we used the red glimmer paper in the Christmas card.  I hope you all had as much fun as I did!  Hope to see you at our November workshop — check out the calendar in the right sidebar.

Fall Pheasant

Hi Cardigans!  Boy, October sure has been a full month for me.  I am very far behind on sending out cards, but I hope to get caught up in the next week.  Today’s card is one that I made last weekend and I still have quite a few to send out this week.  I was in the mood for something autumnal and a little rustic.   I had quite a bit of retired card stock that I wanted to use, too.  I pulled out the Walk in the Wild stamp set and saw the pheasant, which I had not used in a card before.  I made several variations of this card, some using cotton chevron ribbon and some using burlap ribbon.  It satiated my pining for a simple, homespun fall card.  Hope you like it, too!  Oh, and hope to see you Saturday at our next card workshop!

Fishy Fishy Fishy…SCORE!

Hello from the Denver airport!  I am on my way to visit family in Nevada and have a two-hour layover here.  So while I’m waiting for my flight I thought I would post this week’s card.  A couple of weeks ago I got the SU Scoring Plate and wanted to try it out.  So here is what I came up with:  A little school of fish and some scored wavy lines.  I have to admit it did take a while to do all the scoring and coloring, only because I made 24 of these.  But I think it turned out cute and hope you do too.

Layered Blossom

This week’s card showcases different paper in layers, topped off with a pretty blossom and sentiment.  I don’t normally do this many layers in a card, but I thought I would try something different!  I love how it turned out.  Plus, I used up some retired paper.  Simple but elegant!

Good Thoughts and Flowers

This past week I made a card design that I really like.  I sent out over 24 of these cards.  They were very easy to do, with just a simple white panel and washi tape.  I don’t know if you can tell from the picture below, but I did two versions in different colors (Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango).  I tried out the new candy dots on some of them.

The Too Kind stamp set is awesome.  The flowers are two-step, so I stamped the first image in So Saffron and the second right on top of the first in Daffodil Delight.  It just adds enough color layering to make the flower pop a little bit.

Check your mailbox and hope it brings a smile to your face!

Fun with Punches

It’s been too long since I’ve posted!  Our September card workshop was last Saturday, and we had a great time at Angela’s house — big thank you to Angela!  For future workshops we’ll have a new home at the Presbyterian Church, so that will give us more space to spread out.

Here are the cards we made this month:

Sept14Workshop

Every card featured one or more of Stampin’ Up’s paper punches; it was great to get some old ones out and use them with new card ideas as well as play with some new punches!

Watch our calendar in the right sidebar for upcoming card workshop dates.

Flora and Fauna

Our August card workshop was a blast!  A huge thank you to Jan for hosting and for making all kinds of scrumptious food.  You went over and above the call of duty!  Our card theme for this month was “flora and fauna.”  No one had a guess as to which stamp sets would be used!  :)  In the end, it was good to have a couple of “guy” cards (pheasant and moose) as well as a kid’s card (rhino).  We also learned a new technique, using the spritzer and watercolor paper.  It was awesome to see everyone, too!  Here are the cards we made:
